About Myself - Company's Newsletter

Interviewing the Interviewer

This month, we decided to know a little more about the person who would have interviewed most of us. Yes. I am talking about Daffodil. She is the person who is handling the roles of a recruitment specialist and at the same time shouldering responsibilities of a HR generalist.

Tell us something about yourself.

To this, Daffodil became reluctant and after a while, gave a sneak preview to her career. She looked back in time and remembered the early days when she had joined IIHT. It's been 1.4 years now and she mentions that this journey has been quite experiential.

Tell us about your experience at IIHT

Daffodil mentioned that she has a total of 4.8 years of experience out of which 1.4 years have been spent being associated with IIHT. Prior to this, she was handling IT recruitment for Thomson Reuters. She mentions that IIHT has been very proactive in understanding her potential and she was handling the roles of a HR generalist in no time. This was apart from her key result area of being a recruitment specialist. She mentions that this journey at IIHT has been a great learning for her and wishes to continue to provide support to the organization and learn from it at the same time.

What are you looking forward to at IIHT?
To this, she mentions that the great thing about IIHT is that the organization treats everyone equally and there is no discrimination between a fresh hire and a veteran. She wishes to put in place some recognition program wherein the employees are recognized on various grounds for the wonderful job that they have been doing. She mentions that this is a great way to boost employee motivation and enhance their
morale.

What do you do in your free time?
Daffodil mentions that she barely manages to find some free time. But when she does, she spends it talking to her friends and derives great joy out of it. Though not an avid reader, she still manages to take some time out and read books

Discussion

I was supposing to handover a offer letter to the person for the role of Manager – Legal. So I dropped in one of the discussion room and gave the letter. In meanwhile I was inquisitive to know the laws as he comes with 28 years of experience in different laws like Labor, Criminal, Companies, Consumer etc.

So I threw few questions for which he started answering wherein the process of knowledge sharing started. I felt too good as it was long time I has such conversations as most of the time I end up in speaking of not much use. Some of the points where really impressive, that was said by him. Below are few which you might also like:

1. The situation where one of the disciple of Plato asked to Plato, “What is the meaning of the word “Justice”? The answer given was “It is what is due”. This context applies in all situations where the word “Justice” is used.
2. The conversation between the Ex – President of Australia while climbing down the stairs from some meeting and the other person in the crowd said, “You are fallen”, for which the President replied: “It was a slip”. The is a vast difference between “Fall” (Completely Lost) and “Slip” (One has just missed it”. It really inspired me.
3. He quoted some words saying “There is a hidden man in each person, which needs to be awaken, aroused” for which, I feel that’s where one lacks.
4. He also referred even an idiot has some skill which normal man cannot understand. I feel for that idiot, we are idiots as we are unable to understand what is conveyed.
5. One more important line was “Success can be achieved by two kinds of People, one with born intelligence and the other with hardship” where 2% of them are born intelligence and 20% with hardship would reach the sky.
6. The bottom line was “ There should be fire in the belly to go up, without which nothing can be achieved”.
